Trump Delights in Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres Fleeing US Because of Him: ‘I Feel So Badly For Them’
President Donald Trump accused Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres of both suffering from a bad case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” after the comedians admitted to fleeing the United States because of his election victory.
Trump joined Miranda Devine on the New York Post’s Pod Force One on Friday where he discussed a number of topics, including his long-standing feud with O’Donnell.
“Now who went to Ireland but Rosie O’Donnell to escape you,” Devine said.
“I feel so badly for them,” Trump sarcastically responded. “She’s so bad.”
“Are you happy she’s gone? And Ellen DeGeneres?” Devine asked.
Both O’Donnell and DeGeneres have admitted to fleeing the United States following Trump’s presidential election victory in 2024. O’Donnell now resides in Ireland, while DeGeneres is in the UK.
“I mean, I don’t think about it. You know, it’s funny. I did Ellen’s show numerous times, but you know, they just get into the mood, I guess. I don’t t know what’s happened to them. You take a look at them, it’s like, what’s going on?” Trump said of the celebrities.
The president agreed with Devine when she said both O’Donnell and DeGeneres suffer from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
“It’s Trump Derangement Syndrome. But you don’t know why. I mean, the country is doing better,” Trump said. “As I said, it is the hottest country in the world right now. And you’d think they’d be happy. And I sort of, with a little fun, said, well, we’re thinking about not allowing Rosie back into the country because she’s very bad for our country and things, and she’s gone crazy. Now she’s a different kind of a person.”
In a post to Truth Social, Trump claimed he was giving “serious consideration” to taking away O’Donnell’s citizenship.
Trump’s feud with O’Donnell dates all the way back to a tense interview on The View in 2006. Trump reignited the feud during a 2015 debate when he was asked about a number of negative statements he’d made about women. Trump joked he’d only used terms like “pig” and “slob” to refer to O’Donnell.
Since her move to Ireland, O’Donnell has questioned the results of the 2024 presidential election, arguing it should be investigated. The comedian and actress pushed a conspiracy theory that Elon Musk helped rig the election in Trump’s favor.
On Pod Force One, Devine argued O’Donnell is “more famous” than she’s ever been thanks to Trump and her keeping their feud alive.
“Oh, she’s probably doing better than she ever did. Yeah, she never did great, but she’s doing better than she every did. Yeah, it’s sort of funny,” Trump said.
The president then fondly recalled the audience reaction to him slamming O’Donnell at that 2015 debate.
“The big moment was the debate, when we had the debate and I said, only Rosie O’Donnell, when they mentioned lots of bad things. I said, only Rosie O’Donnell, and the whole audience burst into laughter,” Trump said. “But it’s funny. You’re right, she may be doing better than ever before. Maybe that’s okay. ”
