WATCH: Bernie Sanders Yells About Trump to Audience of Screaming Gen-Z Fans at — Coachella?

In perhaps the most unexpected crossover of the political and music worlds this year, Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (age 83) brought his signature brand of politics to young fans at Coachella on Saturday night — yes, that Coachella.

Before a group of thousands of Gen Z concertgoers moments before singer-songwriter Clairo took the stage, Sanders warned the country faced threats from climate change and President Donald Trump.

Sanders ignited cheers and wasted no time diving into what he called an “urgent fight for justice” alongside Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL).

“The country faces some very difficult challenges, and the future of what happens to America is dependent upon your generation,” Sanders shouted to the crowd of festivalgoers. “Now you can turn away and ignore what goes on — but if you do that, you do it at your own peril. We need you to stand up to fight for justice.”

The crowd, many of them waving glowsticks, also cheered as Sanders discussed the environment.

“Since January, the new administration has gutted climate initiatives, laid off key staff at environmental agencies, and rolled back regulation after regulation — all while claiming it’s for ‘efficiency,'” he said, referencing Elon Musk-helmed DOGE.

Sanders also thanked Clairo for allowing him to use her platform to advocate for progressive causes.

“I’m here because Clairo has used her prominence to fight for women’s rights, to try to end the terrible, brutal war in Gaza, where thousands of women and children are being killed,” he said.

Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have been traversing cities across the West, warning of what they describe as an emerging American “oligarchy.”

Their latest stop was in Los Angeles on Friday night, where the duo attracted thousands to a rally.
