President Donald Trump sent American Eagle’s stock price soaring over 15 percent Monday morning after he praised actress Sydney Sweeney’s ad campaign for the company on Truth Social.

The ad, featuring the tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” makes a cheeky play on the word “genes,” with Sweeney narrating: “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring… My jeans are blue.”

The campaign, however, has drawn the Euphoria and White Lotus star into a political firestorm after critics argued the language was racially loaded. The company defended the commercial in a statement.

The discourse around the ad devolved further after public records revealed the actress registered as a Republican in Florida in June 2024, months before Trump reclaimed the presidency.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump praised Sweeney’s ad as the “HOTTEST” out there and claimed that the jeans featured are “flying off the shelves.”

The post, however, appeared to trigger a market reaction. Moments after it went live, American Eagle stocks (NYSE:AEO) spiked by over 15 percent and almost 23 percent by the end of the day.

In the same post, which Trump deleted and reissued with corrected typos, the president criticized companies that had gone “WOKE” – including luxury car manufacturer Jaguar – and ranted against singer Taylor Swift.

“Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be,” he declared.
