Cable News Drops Everything to Cover King Charles Cancer Diagnosis

CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News dropped everything when news of King Charles III’s cancer broke, and they’ve been all over the story since.

Buckingham Palace released a statement Monday that the 75-year old king would begin treatments today for an undisclosed form of cancer. “Royal experts” in the U.S. and U.K., as well as medical professionals, have appeared on all three networks to speculate about what the announcement could mean, and how serious the situation is.

The networks have reported that prodigal son Prince Harry, who has stepped back from royal duties and currently lives in the United States with wife Meghan and their children, has reportedly spoken with the King and is traveling to the U.K. They also reported that William, Prince of Wales, is closely monitoring the situation.

The networks have been constantly updating the story as more information comes in from the palace.

In an emailed statement, the palace said, “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” NBC reported.

King Charles recently had surgery for an enlarged prostate, but the palace said he does not have prostate cancer.

Charles became the oldest person to succeed to the British throne after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in 2022. The palace said Charles will postpone public duties as he’s being treated.

This is a breaking story and has been updated.
