Elon Musk Torches Judge Who Blocked DOGE Access to Treasury in Late-Night Social Media Screed: ‘He Needs to Be Impeached NOW!’

Elon Musk sounded off on a federal judge for blocking access to the Treasury Department’s data systems to Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team.
Early Saturday, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer put a temporary restriction on DOGE access in response to a lawsuit filed by 19 Democratic state attorneys general across the country alleging that Musk and DOGE’s access was unconstitutional.
Musk was not pleased by the ruling, to say the least. He kicked off what has been a day-long social media screed by pushing a claim from Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) that Engelmayer’s decision even prohibited Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent from accessing the systems.
“This has the feel of a coup—not a military coup, but a judicial one,” Senator Lee wrote.
“Yes,” Musk said, co-signing Lee’s statement.

Multiple legal and financial analysts dispute Musk’s interpretation of the ruling — arguing Bessent himself clearly has access and is only prohibited from giving it to people outside the Treasury Department, such as those representing DOGE.
Musk, in a post shortly after 2:00 a.m. ET, took on Judge Engelmayer specifically.
“A corrupt judge protecting corruption,” Musk wrote. “He needs to be impeached NOW.”
Musk went on to push a nebulous plan in which “elected bodies” have the power to fire 1 percent of federal judges each year.
“I’d like to propose that the worst 1% of appointed judges, as determined by elected bodies, be fired every year,” Musk wrote. “This will weed out the most corrupt and least competent.”
