Everyone Who Worked in Nancy Mace’s Congressional Office In November Has Either Quit Or Been Fired: ‘She’s a Joke’

Every single staffer working Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-SC) congressional office on November 1 of last year has either quit or been fired, according to a stunning new report from The Daily Beast.
In the three months since then, eight members of Mace’s staff have quit and one, her former chief of staff Dan Hanlon, has been fired. Hanlon is now challenging his old boss in the GOP primary in South Carolina’s first congressional district.
In a statement given to the Beast, Mace’s new chief of staff called the turnover a “non-issue” and noted that there was a “new coach, new team in the DC office.” Notably, that same chief of staff, Lori Khatod, had called the Capitol Police on Hanlon shortly after his dismissal, seemingly with no reason for doing so.
The Beast also collected several damning quotes from former Mace staffers who derided her as “abusive,” “delusional,” and “a walking teleprompter.”
“All this is why pretty much every staffer and fellow member on the Hill thinks she’s a joke,” said one particularly scathing employee. “Also a big reason why she’s only able to hire former George Santos staffers right now.”
“For Mace it was all about control. She didn’t see the staff as people but as property,” recalled another.
Mace has made headlines often over the last few months for her betrayal of those who have helped her in the past. In the fall, Mace joined with a band of rebels led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to defenestrate former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who had helped raise money for her congressional campaigns. More recently, Mace stabbed Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley in the back to endorse former President Donald Trump.
The decision — and Mace’s harsh words for Haley in the days since — are particularly striking given the fact that Haley campaigned for Mace back in 2022 when she was facing down a Trump-backed primary challenger.
At the time, Mace praised Haley as a “great leader for our nation” and “great example” to both Mace and her daughter, but she’s since reversed course, deeming Haley “China’s favorite governor.”
