Authorities on Long Island responded to a bomb threat that was directed at the house of the judge presiding over Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial.
Trump is attending the closing arguments of the trial on Thursday despite being forbidden from making a closing statement. The prohibition stems from Trump and his team’s refusal to abide by the terms set forth by Judge Arthur Engoron, which required the former president to stick to the subject of his trial and not go off topic to give a campaign speech. Trump has clashed with Engoron numerous times throughout the trial.
Multiple reports say that hours before Thursday’s proceeding began, a Nassau County bomb squad was sent to Engoron’s house to investigate a threat. It’s not clear if Engoron was home at the time, but the court’s proceedings are continuing as planned, even though NBC reported that there “a delay in processing reporters and lawyers through security lines into the courthouse where closing arguments are taking place because off the alleged bomb threat.”
