‘Huge PR Disaster!’ Fox News Panel Slams Trump’s Handling of Epstein Probe
A Fox News panel slammed President Donald Trump for attempting to move past the Jeffrey Epstein probe following his shocking statement on Truth Social Saturday.
In a discussion on Fox News’ MediaBuzz Sunday, host Howard Kurtz invited guests Sarah Bedford and Lucy Caldwell to discuss the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein case. Bedford — the investigations editor at the right-leaning Washington Examiner — was blunt when asked for her assessment by Kurtz.
“The refusal to release anything from Jeffrey Epstein has really struck a nerve — a deep nerve — among many Trump supporters, many people in the MAGA movement who say they feel betrayed.” Kurtz said. “Why?”
“I think it’s obvious that this is a huge PR disaster for the Trump administration!” Bedford said. “There’s no way for them to spin their way out of this.”
Bedford went on to argue that the Trump administration’s actions will have the opposite of their intended effect and actually heighten interest in the story among the MAGA base.
“I don’t think they could have scripted a better way to keep the conspiracy theories alive than the way they handled it,” Bedford said. “Promising that a lot information was going to come — and then sort of backtracking without any real explanation. I think this is only going to add fuel to the conspiracies around Epstein.”
Caldwell — a staffer for an anti-Trump think tank called Renew Democracy — agreed with Bedford’s take. She added that Attorney General Pam Bondi — who has been the target of much MAGA scorn in recent days — is merely a scapegoat.
“Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, they are simply carrying out the wishes of Donald Trump,” Caldwell said. “Why he wants it to be this way, don’t know, but it certainly is not a good look. And I agree with Sarah, it’s a PR disaster.”
