Hunter Biden is throwing shade at Democrats who did not remain “loyal” to his dad in the 2024 presidential election and denying he played any role in turning off voters.

“We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party,” Hunter Biden told former Democratic National Committee chairman Jaime Harrison on a podcast launching Thursday. The Washington Post published a preview of the conversation from the At Our Table podcast on Wednesday.

Hunter Biden argued his father, former President Joe Biden, gave Democrats the best chance at winning, but he accused the party of “melting down” in their scramble to replace him following backlash to a June 2024 debate.

“That’s my position. We had the advantage of incumbency, we had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down,” he said.

Hunter Biden received a pardon from his father during his final days in office after pleading guilty to tax charges in California and a conviction on gun charges in Delaware. He argued his own troubles did not hurt Democrats as he kept a distance, which he said “broke” his heart.

Biden also denied that there was any “conspiracy” to cover up his father’s mental and physical capacity, as reporting from Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s Original Sin and more have suggested.

“What sells, Jaime? What sells is the idea of a conspiracy,” he said, arguing there is “zero” chance secrets can be kept in Washington, D.C.
