‘It Is Not an Exaggeration!’ Scott Jennings Insists Portland Is ‘Occupied’ by Antifa
CNN’s Abby Phillip and Scott Jennings threw down after the conservative pundit insisted Portland, OR, was “occupied” by antifa protesters who were attacking federal agents.
Portland police arrested two people at a protest outside the ICE facility Friday night for “allegedly blocking the street from vehicles passing through,” KOIN 6 News reported.
“Portland has been occupied by antifa for quite some time,” Jennings began. “You guys keep calling them protests. These aren’t protests, these are violent people. They’re attacking law enforcement, they’re attacking federal facilities. The president of the United States has every obligation to defend federal facilities and federal personnel there…it’s a disgrace that we have an American city that is essentially being occupied by left-wing radicals and the locals won’t do anything about it.”
Phillip jumped in to call Jennings’s statement “an exaggeration.”
“It’s not an exaggeration! I’ve seen the video,” Jennings snapped back.
Phillip then attempted to get Jennings to agree that Portland was not, in fact, “war ravaged.”
PHILLIP: The situation by local officials have been described as something that’s essentially happening in one city block of Portland.
JENNINGS: They’re assaulting ICE facilities.
PHILLIP: Portland is a city. And it’s not a perfect city, but it is a city. And something that’s occurring on one city block, Portland is suddenly “Portland is war ravaged.”
JENNINGS: Do you dispute that they’ve attacked the ICE facilities?
PHILLIP: I didn’t say anything about that. I said that’s happening in one block of the city. So, does that constitute Portland being a “war-ravaged” city?
JENNINGS: I think what happened in Portland is a disgrace. Nobody wants to go there. And, yes, parts of the city are ravaged by the protesters and federal officials believe their facilities are under attack.
PHILLIP: When violent protests happen law enforcement has a responsibility to handle it, but would you describe an entire city as “war ravaged” when there are protests, even if they’re violent, that’s happening outside of a single building?
JENNINGS: Yes, I would say if there are violent protests happening against a federal facility, they are being ravaged. I completely agree with that language.
Donald Trump called Portland a “war ravaged” city in a Truth Social post last week to justify sending in federal troops. On Thursday night, MAGA was outraged after influencer Nick Sortor was arrested by Portland police for attempting to stomp out an American flag that had been set on fire.
