James Comer Flat Out Says ‘Joe Biden’s Committed Many Crimes’ in Wild Interview With Fox’s Maria Bartiromo
Based on recent reports and even his own public comments, House Oversight Comittee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has made it seem like he’s about ready to throw in the towel on the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. But the Kentucky congressman, performing for a Fox News audience on Sunday, sounded a very different note — flat out declaring the president has committed “many crimes” and suggesting his committee will soon hold the president accountable.
In a wild interview with anchor Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures, Comer took a victory lap over the criminal referrals House Republicans just sent to the DOJ for Hunter Biden and James Biden — alleging both lied to Congress. But Comer, on Sunday, set his sights back on President Biden.
“Joe Biden was the central figure in selling the brand and convincing the shady characters around the globe that his family was essentially speaking for him — and to go ahead and wire that money to those shell accounts,” Comer said.
But Bartiromo — who recently grilled Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) about the House Oversight Committee’s lack of progress — questioned Comer on why the committee only issued criminal referrals for perjury.
“Where are the criminal referrals for FARA?” Bartiromo said. “For money laundering? For corruption? For influence peddling? Where are those?”
“We’re just beginning, Maria,” Comer assured her. “A lot of those crimes that the Bidens have committed, the statute of limitations has run out … But we’re going to deal with those, and we’re going to deal with Joe Biden. Remember, this is an investigation of Joe Biden. Hunter Biden, Jim Biden, Eric Sherwin, Devon Archer, these are all witnesses in an investigation of Joe Biden. This was always about Joe Biden. We’re going to do everything we can to hold Hunter Biden and all the different shady associates accountable. This is just the beginning. But the next step will be accountability for Joe Biden. I think everyone that’s kept up with this investigation will be very eager to see what the next step is.”
Bartiromo seemingly took that comment to mean that House Republicans are on the verge of issuing a criminal referral against the president.
“Are you saying that we could expect a criminal referral against Joe Biden for money laundering?” Bartiromo asked. “Is that what you just said?”
Comer delivered a wild response.
“I think that it’s no secret Joe Biden’s committed many crimes,” Comer said. “And I think that you’re going to see a report very soon. That report is imminent. That’ll probably be an interim report that updates everyone on the crimes that Biden and his administration have committed throughout this investigation and through the years of the Obama-Biden administration.”
That bizarre claim has been a tough sell even for House Republicans. In a recent interview on NBC, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) said he has not seen evidence of a “specific crime” committed by Joe Biden.
“At this point, there’s no specific crime,” Bacon said.
Another congressman, Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), recently told CNN of a potential Biden impeachment, “It needs to be a high bar, and if we are contemplating that on the president … I don’t think we are there yet.”
Comer also recently — in a viral moment — declined to call an impeachment vote when Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) dared him to do so.
