WATCH: House Democrats Disrupt Censure of Rep. Al Green for Heckling Trump During High-Profile Speech

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was censured on Thursday by his colleagues in the House of Representatives for his conduct during President Donald Trump’s address before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.

Green repeatedly interrupted Trump’s speech on Tuesday, and was twice warned to stop by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) before Johnson eventually ordered the sergeant-at-arms to remove Green from the chamber.

House Republicans — and nine Democrats — voted to censure Green on Thursday.

“The resolution is adopted without objection. A motion to reconsider is laid on the table. The House will come to order, the House will come to order. Will Representative Greene present himself to the well,” said Johnson while announcing the passage of Green’s censure. “By its adoption of House Resolution 189, the House has resolved that Representative Al Green be censured, that Representative Al Green forthwith presented himself in the well of the House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure, and that Representative Al Green be censured with public reading of this resolution by the speaker.”

Green and a group of House Democrats then congregated in the well of the House chamber and began singing, ignoring Johnson’s demands that the House come to order, preventing Johnson from publicly admonishing Green.
