According to a recent poll by Quinnipiac University, 58% of registered voters want to see Republicans in Congress do more to check President Donald Trump.

The poll was conducted by live interviews via cellphone and landline from June 5 through 9, with responses reported for 1,265 self-identified registered voters across the U.S.

The margin of error was +/- 2.8 percentage points.

Among registered voters who identified as Republican, 16% of them said Republicans in Congress should be doing more to check Trump, while 95% of all Democratic registered voters answered the same way. For independent voters, 59% answered that Republicans in Congress should be doing more than they are to check Trump.

Similarly, 61% of registered voters and 19% of Republicans answered “No” when asked whether “the Republican party cares about the needs and problems of people like you?” The poll showed 97% of Democratic voters and 63% of Independent voters also answered “No” to this question.

The data suggests growing concerns about congressional oversight and the connection within the Republican party. Not only do the majority of registered voters want to see members of Trump’s party in Congress put him in check, the president’s personal approval ratings are plunging as well.
