MSNBC Busts Into Trump Presser To Hammer Election Lies In Real Time
MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing busted into President Donald Trump’s marathon press conference for a live fact-check of election lies Trump was in the process of telling.
Trump held a press briefing Friday, at which Cara Castronuova of Lindell TV asked him such a fawning question, he felt compelled to deny it was a “setup.”
“On the 2020 election, is there any more information on the special prosecutor? So many Americans still have questions about the 2020 elections,” Castronuova said.
Trump launched into a rant about the election he lost, claiming it was “rigged and stolen”:
I hope so. I hope they’re doing a thing because that election was rigged and stolen, and we can’t allow that to happen. You know, a lot of people tell me, sir, you just won the greatest election in the history of our country. You won all seven swing states, won the popular vote, won everything.
‘Sir, go on with your life,’ and many people say that, good people, friends of mine, then you have people that say that same thing, go on with your life, but you have to find out what happened…
On Friday’s edition of MSNBC’s Chris Jansing Reports, Jansing broke in to fact-check Trump even as the presser continued in a two-box:
CHRIS JANSING: We continue to listen to the president of the United States at a press conference that was to be about the big rulings today from the Supreme Court.
But I think it’s important to note here that once again, the accusations he has been making have no basis.
In fact, there is absolutely no evidence that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen. It was litigated and relitigated, and nothing was found.
We should also say that his allegations against Joe Biden and his musings about the possible use of the autopen have no basis in fact behind them.
We want to go back to the president because we do want to hear given the nature and the importance of the Supreme Court rulings today that he may say something that is newsworthy and some of the other topics including tariffs, but we felt it was important to fact check him.
Let’s go back now to the White House briefing room.
Trump has spent years falsely claiming that the 2020 election was “rigged” against him and/or “stolen” from him, despite the fact that Biden defeated Trump in an electoral landslide that has been reaffirmed over and over by state officials from Trump’s own party and dozens of court decisions — and despite consistent mockery even from some allies.
