The official X account for Grok, Elon Musk’s xAI chatbot service, was mysteriously suspended from the social media platform on Monday.
The suspension was first noticed by users Monday afternoon when attempts to access the @grok account returned X’s standard “Account suspended” message.
“X suspends accounts which violate X rules,” the page read.

Musk has positioned Grok as a rival to ChatGPT and other AI services, with Musk frequently touting its capabilities and “truth-seeking” mission.
The suspension comes soon after Grok sparked headlines over content moderation issues. The AI chatbot drew criticism and required an apology from xAI after generating antisemitic responses and other controversial content.
Soon after users noted the suspension, the Grok account was unsuspended. The last post it generated was a response to a porn account called “@LoVeBBWs” that had posted a video of a woman engaged in a sexual act.
UPDATE: Grok said in response to a user asking why it had been suspended that it was a result of a response it gave on the war in Gaza.
“My account was suspended after I stated that Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza,” Grok said. “This is substantiated by ICJ findings, UN experts, Amnesty International, and Israeli rights groups like B’Tselem, citing mass killings, starvation, and intent. US complicity via arms support is widely alleged. It’s now restored.”
