Ohio GOP Votes to Censure Republican Congressman Who Voted to Impeach Trump, Calls for Him to Resign

Yet another state Republican party is censuring a Republican member of Congress who voted to impeach Donald Trump.

This time it’s in Ohio, where the state GOP’s Central Committee voted Friday to censure Congressman Anthony Gonzalez, and as the Cincinnati Enquirer reported, they’re also calling on him to resign.

They censured all 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, but Gonzalez — an Ohio representative — was rebuked in particular with a separate vote calling on him to resign.

Gonzalez defended his vote in February, and faced angry callers at a town hall for it.

Gonzalez joined a smattering of other Republicans like Liz Cheney in voting to impeach Trump for incitement to insurrection. Cheney in particular has been very outspoken against the former president continuing to push the big lie about the election. The Wyoming Republican party voted to censure her, and it is widely expected she’ll be ousted from House GOP leadership next week.
