Pro-MAGA Anchor Bitterly Reads Off Gleeful ‘Trump Is Dead’ Tweets: ‘Disgusting!’
Pro-MAGA Newsmax anchor Rick Leventhal lashed out at social media users gleeful about the “Trump Is Dead” viral trend, reading out a flurry of the “disgusting” posts on the air.
Speculation on social media built this weekend after President Donald Trump’s empty schedule, combined with heightened attention after Trump was repeatedly photographed with serious bruising on his hand and swollen ankles, caused “Where’s Trump?” and “Trump is Dead” to become viral trending topics.
The chatter persisted even after pool reporters spotted Trump Saturday morning. Users insisted that photos being circulated were of a “crisis actor,” AI-generated, or outdated.
On Monday’s edition of Newsmax TV’s Ed Henry: The Briefing, guest anchor Leventhal called the reaction depraved, and The Daily Signal’s Tyler O’Neil likened it to the “vile hate” that led to the assassination attempt on Trump:
RICK LEVENTHAL: Joining me now, more on this, political strategist and CEO of Compass Strategies, Luke Ball, and alongside him, senior editor at The Daily Signal, Tyler O’Neill. Welcome to you both.
TYLER O’NEIL: Thank you. Thanks for having me.
RICK LEVENTHAL: So Tyler, the left didn’t hesitate to take to social media, sending ill will the president’s way. Here’s what some users said on Twitter.
“Somebody wake me up when Donald Trump is pronounced dead.”.
“Me liking every Donald Trump Is Dead tweet.”.
“Trump found alive, country devastated.”.
“Where is Donald Trump? Hopefully where he belongs.”.
To disagree with a president is one thing, but to wish him death is something else entirely. Tyler, what in the world is going on here?
TYLER O’NEIL: This is yet more of the vile hatred for Trump we’ve seen spread across social media, across sometimes in the legacy media.
And we’ve see one of the reasons why there was the shooting in Butler is all of this hatred directed President Trump’s way. They were willing to prosecute him. They were willing to seek to go to any lengths to get him behind bars.
And now there are some people who still, even after the horrific tragedy in Butler, which thank God, President Trump survived. And I’m among those who think that was a miracle that day. But this kind of hate is, it’s beyond the pale.
RICK LEVENTHAL: Yeah, it is, and it’s disgusting, Tyler.
