Rob Reiner’s Heartfelt Comments on Charlie Kirk’s Murder Go Viral After His Own Tragic Murder
Rob Reiner’s gracious words about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk went viral Monday following news that the director and his wife had been found murdered in their own home.
Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, posted a heartfelt tribute to Reiner, featuring the director’s own words, writing, “Rob Reiner responded with grace and compassion to Charlie’s assassination. This video makes it all the more painful to hear of he and his wife’s tragic end. May God be close to the broken hearted in this terrible story.”
In the interview with Piers Morgan, Reiner said he felt “absolute horror” at how and why Kirk was killed.
“That should never happen to anybody,” Reiner said. “I don’t care what your political beliefs are, that’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution to solving problems. And I felt like what his wife said at the service, at the memorial they had, was exactly right.”
Reiner continued, “And, totally, I believe — you know, I’m Jewish — but I believe in the teachings of Jesus, and I believe in ‘Do unto others.’ And I believe in forgiveness. And what she said [Erika Kirk], to me, was beautiful and absolutely — you know — she forgave his assassin. And I think that that is admirable.”
CNN’s Dana Bash compared Reiner’s words to those of President Donald Trump in a shocking Truth Social post Monday. In it, Trump blamed Reiner for his own death, writing, “Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
“I just want to add that the president posted…on his own social media platform, Truth Social. As far as I could tell — and our team looked into it — most of the comments were not supportive of the president…Many of the comments were saying, ‘Mr. President, enough.’ That tells you something.”
Bash called the president’s words “repugnant” and marveled at how he decided to post them on his own, without ever being asked a question.
Kristen Holmes added that the White House and Rapid Response Team “reposted that seconds after the president did. I mean, it’s not something they’re shying away from.”
Some prominent Republicans like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), and Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) denounced Trump’s post.
