‘Shocking’: Fox Host Leads Chorus on the Right Condemning Fox Contributor Kellyanne Conway For TikTok Advocacy

Fox News host Mark Levin took aim over the weekend at Fox News contributor Kellyanne Conway after a Politico article came out detailing her work on behalf of Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok.

Conway “is being paid by the conservative Club for Growth to advocate for TikTok in Congress and has had at least 10 meetings with lawmakers in recent months about the app, according to three people familiar with the meetings,” reported Politico on Saturday. The House is considering forcing the Chinese company behind TikTok to divest its ownership or face a ban in the U.S. in new legislation that could come up for a vote as soon as next week.

Levin was decidedly unimpressed with Conway’s efforts before Congress, sharing the Politico article and adding, “This is not just appalling and disappointing, it is shocking.”

Conway, who ran Trump’s winning 2016 presidential campaign, appears to be on the same side as former President Donald Trump – having recently reversed his position on a full TikTok ban.

Conway told Politico in a statement that “alienating 170 million monthly U.S. users” didn’t make sense for the GOP and that a ban on TikTok was “draconian” and “ill-advised.”

“If you want to hold China accountable, why are you starting with TikTok, and not the origins of the COVID crisis, the fentanyl crisis, the persecution of Uyghurs, and the vulnerability of Taiwan,” she added.

Politico noted that “Billionaire investor and Club for Growth donor Jeff Yass holds a 15 percent stake in TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, which is based in Beijing.” Trump met Yass last week and shortly after posted, “If you get rid of TikTok, Facebook and Zuckerschmuck will double their business. I don’t want Facebook, who cheated in the last Election, doing better.”

Levin, a very enthusiastic Trump booster, led a chorus of vitriol against Conway as many on the right shared and replied to his tweet.

The Blaze’s Steve Deace replied, “In the end, the real reason we never “drain the swamp” or “lock her up” or “throw the bums out” or crash our own Tea Party — and we just get “manage the decline at an acceptable rate and speed” or “stop the crazy for a little while” instead — is because our people cash the check.”
