The New York Times issued a statement decrying President Donald Trump’s latest attack on it as an “intimidation” tactic on Monday morning.

In a Sunday night post on Truth Social, Trump wrote the following:

The Failing New York Times insists on using Liddle’ Peter Baker, a really bad writer and Obama biographer and sycophant, to write many of the long and boring Fake News hit pieces against me. The only two people with less talent than Peter are his “wife,” the lovely Susan Glasser, and, of course, Maggot Hagerman, who may be the least talented writer in the entire stable of New York Times’ MEDIOCRITY! There’s something really wrong with these people, and their SICK, TRUMP DERANGED EDITORS. They did everything within their power to help rig the Election against me. How did that work out??? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

The vicious attack on not only the institution, but Baker, his wife, and Maggie Haberman, compelled the Times to respond to the president.

“Presidents from both parties have found reason to be unhappy with honest, independent journalism,” read the statement released by the publication. “Peter Baker, Maggie Haberman, and their colleagues have an unrivaled record of covering this and prior administrations fully and fairly. Intimidation tactics against Times reporters or their family members have never caused us to back down from our mission of holding powerful people to account, regardless of which party is in office.”

In recent days, Trump has not only used his enormous platform to criticize the media, but his resources to sue them.

In December, ABC News agreed to give $15 million to Trump’s presidential library after anchor George Stephanopoulos erroneously stated that Trump had been found civilly liable for raping, rather than sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll.

He’s also currently suing CBS for billions of dollars over its editing of an interview with his 2024 general election opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris.
