‘Time Is Running Out’: MSNBC Plays ‘Striking’ Leaked Audio of Released Hostages Recounting Horrors to Benjamin Netanyahu
MSNBC played leaked audio of a former captive lashing out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a private confrontation, accusing him of caring more about crushing Hamas than about the Israelis still being held in Gaza.
Reporter Raf Sanchez told Chris Jansing, “This is really striking. These are hostages who got out of Gaza last week and last night they were sitting face-to-face with the Israeli prime minister. And, as you’ll hear in a second, this was a fiery confrontation.”
Sanchez noted that NBC had confirmed the authenticity of the audio.
The woman spoke Hebrew on the recording, which MSNBC translated with English subtitles:
You’re putting politics over returning the hostages. And you think the men are strong? My husband was hitting himself every day. Punching his own face until he would bleed because it was unbearable for him. And now he’s alone! And god knows in what conditions. And all you’re thinking about is collapsing Hamas.
“Chris, you can hear the anger in that woman’s voice, and the message that they want the government to understand is that time is running out for those 130 or so remaining hostages inside Gaza,” Sanchez said, continuing:
As we’ve been talking about, Chris, many of them were wounded on October 7th. Many of them have pre-existing health conditions. They have been getting little food, and the families are telling the government they need to get out now, and one of the things that we’re hearing from the families that they’re so frustrated about is they feel like they understand the shape of a deal that will bring their loved ones home. It involves releasing probably thousands of Palestinian militants from Israeli jails and they are saying to the government make that deal now, bring our loved ones back.
