WWE Crowd Slams Ron DeSantis With Brutal Chant in Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was greeted not with cheers but with a loud, sustained chorus of boos and chants at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Tampa, where fans made their disapproval of the former Republican presidential candidate resoundingly clear.

As the governor approached the ring at the Yuengling Center, several attendees erupted into jeers, with chants of “you suck!” clearly audible in multiple videos shared from the scene. The clips, posted from different angles across the arena, quickly gained traction online.

It’s unclear what sparked the heckling.

DeSantis is nearing the end of his second and final term as governor, set to expire in January 2027. His national star has dimmed since his failed 2024 presidential bid, where he attempted to outflank President Donald Trump politically before ultimately endorsing him in the general election.

Now, even his plan to anoint a successor – his wife, Casey DeSantis – is facing headwinds. Trump, never one to miss a chance to upstage a rival, has instead thrown his weight behind Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), a rising Florida conservative, for the 2026 governor’s race.
