Megyn Kelly Calls Out Trump Supporters in Media Letting ‘Loyalty’ to President ‘Trump Their Journalistic Obligation’ on Epstein

Megyn Kelly called out MAGA influencers and supporters of President Donald Trump in the media for letting their “loyalty” trump their obligations as journalists.

On Tuesday’s edition of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly singled out Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, accusing her and others of putting too much trust in the Trump administration when it comes to the Epstein Files.

The late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein died of apparent suicide in 2019 while being charged with sex trafficking. A Department of Justice/FBI memo denying the existence of a long-touted Epstein client list has set off some MAGA supporters, especially in light of officials like Attorney General Pam Bondi specifically referring to such a list. Trump himself has called the entire scandal a “hoax.” On Wednesday, he lashed out on Truth Social and said he doesn’t want the support of those upset over the handling of the Epstein case.

“You now have some MAGA influencers clearly on direction of the White House saying, ‘Okay, I’m done’. You had Laura Ingraham go on her show on Fox News last night being like, ‘Oh, well, you know, after there was the, you know, the pile on at Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point event, you know, where there all this Republican infighting,’ and then kind of suggested she’s moving on from that. Okay, she was part of it. I like Laura, but she 100% stood up there and fanned this flame,” Kelly said on Tuesday.

Kelly was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at the Turning Point USA event when she asked how many people cared about the Epstein files and ripped into Bondi.

The former Fox News host also played a clip of Charlie Kirk in which he said he is moving on from Epstein and putting his trust in his “friends” in the administration, like Bondi. Kelly complimented Kirk and argued he does not have the same standards as journalists would on the Epstein files.

“Let’s not pretend that some of the president’s most loyal advocates aren’t very, very interested in Epstein, they are, alright? However, some in the media let their loyalty to the president trump their journalistic obligation,” Kelly said, noting that Kirk does not have the same obligation as actual reporters in the media.

Kelly declared she refuses to be the “CNN of Trump 2.0” by simply accepting whatever the administration says as truth.

She said:

I have nothing but respect and admiration for this president, but I’m in a different business. I am in the journalism business. And my position is you can trust, but you must verify. And I refuse, refuse to be the CNN of Trump 2.0, where they just trusted the administration on Biden’s mental acuity, and willingly, by doing so, ignored the biggest crisis and controversy and scandal in modern presidential history. That’s not what’s happening under Trump, but I’m just saying journalists, people like me who do consider themselves as journalists, you have an obligation not to just trust. You kick the tires. That’s your job. You approach all stories and everything fed to you by an administration official, like them, love them, respect them, trust them or not, with a hefty dose of skepticism.
