Trump Claims He Could Have Been a ‘Flutist’ While Discussing ‘Brilliant’ Music Background: ‘Can You Believe It?’

President Donald Trump claimed that there is an alternative reality where he becomes a simple “flutist” instead of following his father into real estate and then jumping head-first into politics.

Trump joined Miranda Devine on her Pod Force One podcast this week for a wide-ranging interview where he revealed he’s open to reconciling with former ally Elon Musk and he even claimed at one point that he was told as a child he was “brilliant at music” and he pursued the flute for a “short time.”

Trump told Devine that at 11 or 12, he was taken for an “aptitude test” to determine what he would be skilled at, and to the mild disappointment of his father, Fred Trump, music was a leading choice.

“They came up to my father, they said, ‘your son is brilliant at music. He can be an incredible musician.’ This is not what my father wanted to hear. You know, this was not the greatest thing ever,” Trump said.

He added he has an “ear” for music, and he had a strong recall memory when he would hear specific notes played.

“Did you ever play an instrument?” Devine asked.

“I played for very short periods of time, the flute. Can you believe that? I had flute lessons. You’re the first person that’s ever asked me that crazy question,” Trump said. “Can you believe it? I could have been a flutist. And I didn’t particularly like it. It wasn’t for me.”

“You could maybe still do it,” Devine later suggested after Trump called the flute an “unusual instrument.”

“I doubt it,” Trump said about the possibility. “I don’t think so.”
