Abby Phillip Kneecaps Scott Jennings’ Claim That ‘Liberal’ Judges Are Stopping Trump Agenda, Cites 5 GOP-Appointed Judges

CNN commentator Scott Jennings slammed the federal judges who have ruled against President Donald Trump in a series of cases centering on executive power in recent days. That earned Jennings a rebuke – and receipts – from host Abby Phillip on Tuesday’s CNN NewsNight.

Since taking office last month, Trump has fired a slew of executive branch employees and has frozen certain funds appropriated by Congress. The moves have spawned a series of lawsuits from plaintiffs and rebukes from the judges presiding over those cases, much to the chagrin of Trump and Republicans such as Jennings, who went off:

JENNINGS: Here’s what I think is a joke – that you have these partisan hack Democrat attorney generals. They get together and the only thing they know how to do is try to nullify the results of the last election by venue-shopping these district court judges. They find the most lunatic liberals they can. They file lawsuits knowing full well they’re going to try to usurp the president’s authority, tie this up in court for years.

PHILLIP: Lunatic liberal judges like a George W. Bush appointee, like a Ronald Reagan appointee, like a Donald Trump appointee, like another Ronald Reagan appointee, like another George W. Bush appointee? All of those lunatic liberal Republican appointees?

Jennings waved off Phillip’s rebuttal.

“I hope you are happy with Donald Trump today because you wanted, last night, more than anything for him to say he’ll abide by the courts and go through the appeals process,” he said, referring to the fact that on Tuesday Trump claimed he would abide by court rulings.
