‘Amen!’ MSNBC’s Phang Raves As Guest Moodie Says A Vote For Cornel West Is Same As Vote For Trump

MSNBC host Katie Phang had warm praise for her guest on Saturday saying that voting for third party candidates like Dr. Cornel West or Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the same as voting for ex-president Donald Trump.

On the most recent edition of MSNBC’s The Katie Phang Show, Daily Beast and Woke AF podcast host Danielle Moodie weighed in on the 2024 election, President Joe Biden’s fundraising and polling, as well as the idea of voting for a third party candidate, which she characterized as nothing more than a “protest” vote.

Phang brought up the subject by mentioning RFK Jr. and asking whether he’s any reason for Democrats to worry.

Despite nearly every poll showing that RFK Jr. pulls more votes away from Biden than Trump, Moodie first answered “no” and said even “his own family is not backing him.”

However, she then seemed to suggest there is a reason to worry when she argued that “protest” votes are the same as a vote for Trump — and she specifically brought up Dr. West, who is running independently and is among those targeted by a newly-formed DNC task force that’s working to keep third party candidates off the ballot in 2024.

“I think that right now, what people have to understand is that this is not the time or place for a protest vote,” said Moodie. “When we get to the general election come November, your protest vote is a vote for Donald Trump.”

“Whether it be RFK Jr, whether it be Cornel West or whomever it is, now is not the time,” said Moodie.

“Amen,” said Phan. “Daniel Moody, always delivering the truth.”

PHANG: A blip on my radar screen by this man named RFK Jr. I don’t give him a lot of attention because I don’t think he merits it. But I will say, a recent Quinnipiac poll. And again, I don’t put a lot of weight into polls, but I want to pull up this numbers. Kennedy support is about 13%. Okay. Putting aside any type of, you know, questions about the poll itself. Is there anything about RFK Jr that anybody should be worried about in terms of the Biden campaign?

MOODIE: No, I don’t. His own family is not backing him. Right. You can’t you can’t get your own family to support your run for the presidency. And so they’ve come out for Biden and strongly. No.

Do I think that we should ignore RFK Jr? No, I don’t, because I think that right now, what people have to understand is that this is not the time or place for a protest vote. You can do that in the primaries. And I appreciate the people that are doing that. Right? But when we get to the general election come November, your protest vote is a vote for Donald Trump. So looking at these candidates, whether it be RFK Jr, whether it be Cornel West or whomever it is, now is not the time. Now is the time to hold on to our democracy so that we can live to fight another day.

PHANG: Amen. Daniel Moody, always delivering the truth.
