Ann Coulter Fires Back at Gingrich: ‘I Was Right,’ He Ran to ‘Get a TV Show’

In a Tuesday morning interview with NewsMax’s Steve Malzberg, conservative commentator Ann Coulter responded to CNN host and former GOP leader Newt Gingrich, who recently dismissed her claims about him as being part of her book-selling “shtick.”

Appearing on Fox’s Hannity last week, Coulter decried “shysters” like Gingrich for his 2012 presidential run, which she claims was done purely out of “self-aggrandizement” and, as she wrote in her book, the need to “appeal to rubes and hotheads.”

When asked about that comment, Gingrich touted his record as House Speaker under President Bill Clinton and said “I would’ve thought [that] would have counted against the number of books she’s sold, but people have got to go out and say something to sell books and she’s found her schtick.”

And so Coulter’s response from today: “I fully credit him for some of the great things he’s done. It was specifically his running for president. And I was right, he’s doing it to get a TV show. He got himself a TV show.”

Gingrich is now a co-host of CNN’s Crossfire reboot.

“The point is,” she continued, “it’s not helping the Republican Party to have these endlessly long primaries with people who are never going to be the nominee. And we have to face it. It’s never going to be a member of Congress, it’s never going to be an inspirational leader, it’s never going to be a businessman.”
