‘Are You Angry Yet?’ Dan Abrams Mocks Media Firestorm Over Ted Cruz’s Fight With Big Bird
Dan Abrams took on the major media outrage surrounding Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) ongoing fight against Big Bird urging the public to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The Mediaite founder used the latest “Mediaite Moments” segment of his NewsNation show, Dan Abrams Live, to look at how Sesame Street became the latest battleground for vaccines after Big Bird encouraged kids to get inoculated. To make his point, Abrams rolled through multiple Fox News clips where anchors and pundits sneered at Sesame Street’s attempts to encourage public health.
“Are you angry yet?” Abrams asked with sarcastic outrage. “You furious at this feathered fraud?”
From there, Abrams acknowledged that “no one played the outrage card better than Senator Ted Cruz,” who continues to go on claiming Big Bird’s pro-vaccine message is “government propaganda” for children. Cruz has been pummeled by the media for his crusade against the fictional avian’s PSA, but Abrams determined that this is all a publicity stunt for Cruz, and the media fell for it.
“Let’s be clear here, Ted Cruz isn’t actually against Big Bird. He’s for getting media attention about Ted Cruz,” Abrams said. “It worked. Media outlets need to stop taking the bait, or maybe, the worm.”
Abrams ended the segment by reminding everyone once again that Big Bird has been promoting vaccines for decades, as exemplified by the resurgence of the 1972 clip where he got the jab for measles.
“How far we have come,” Abrams dryly concluded.
