‘Believe Me, This is NOT What I Signed Up For’: Jake Tapper Jokes About Sordid Details He’s Had to Learn About Trump Scandals
CNN anchor Jake Tapper joked he did not think he would be covering sordid details like those he’s had to learn about former President Donald Trump’s alleged affair with Stormy Daniels when he became a reporter.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee is currently in a New York courtroom where he faces criminal charges for allegedly falsifying business documents regarding hush money payments during the 2016 election season in order to cover up an affair.
Moreover, Trump faces three additional criminal indictments for his handling of classified material and his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
Tapper noted that Trump’s affair with Daniels was not a relationship, but the pair did reportedly watch Shark Week while “canoodling.” His colleague Kasie Hunt then jokingly pointed out he knows “too much” about the case.
TAPPER: There wasn’t a relationship. Although I do think while they were, allegedly canoodling, there was some, watching of Shark Week that was happening.
HUNT: You know way too much about that.
TAPPER: Believe me, this is not what I signed up for when I became a political reporter. All right. I thought I was going to be talking much more about policy anyway.
