Bill O’Reilly And Panel Refute ‘Ashamed’ Rush Limbaugh: ‘The Left Has Not Won In America’

Bill O’Reilly began his show Monday by quoting his conservative compatriot Rush Limbaugh‘s defeatist statements from last week. Limbaugh, defending his earlier comments about being “ashamed” of his country, said that despite his best efforts, “the left has beaten us.” O’Reilly pushed back against Limbaugh during his Talking Point Memo segment, concluding “The left has not won in America.”

O’Reilly gave Limbaugh credit for acknowledging that the left “controls the education system, pop culture and media,” but respectfully disagreed that the liberal ideology is now a “dominant” force in the country. He also accepted that there has been a shift on social issues like gay marriage and marijuana legalization, but maintained that when it comes to core Republican principles like smaller government, the majority of America is still on his and Limbaugh’s side.

He then brought on Fox News analysts Mary Katherine Ham and Juan Williams to give their takes on Limbaugh’s assertion. The two commentators were even more eager than O’Reilly to go against Limbaugh, both stating that they are not “ashamed” of their country of the people in it even if they disagree with them politically. Williams said he sensed Limbaugh’s “frustration” and Ham said it was appropriate for anyone to be “discouraged” with politicians during this sequester stand-off, but neither thought it was appropriate for conservatives to give up in the face of their struggles.
