‘Cannot Stop Laughing!’ Fox Guest Roasts Democrats Making ‘Safe Streets’ and ‘Liking Hot People’ a Trump Thing

Author and The Free Press columnist Batya Ungar-Sargon laughed out loud on Fox News Thursday as she spoke to host Raymond Arroyo about whether Democrats could pay a political price for opposing major moves by President Donald Trump on crime and enforcement in Washington.

Trump’s crackdown, which includes some deployment of National Guard troops and the disbanding of homeless encampments, among other steps, has been met with criticism in much of the press, and particularly from elected Democrats, who have called it “fascist” and “autocratic” among other things.

But on Thursday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle, Ungar-Sargon had Arroyo and fellow author and guest Chris Bedford laughing with her over how the Democrats are reacting.

“I got to tell you, I cannot stop laughing about this,” she said. “Like why the Democrats would want safe streets to be branded as a right-wing concern is like totally beyond me.”

Ungar-Sargon brought up the recent kerfuffle involving actress Sydney Sweeney, whose ad for jeans caused a burst of over-the-top outrage from the left that was largely indulged by the media, saying the crime issue is of a piece with that controversy.

“Do they really want, like, liking hot people to be considered like a right wing thing?” she asked incredulously. “It’s so bizarre!”

She added essentially that it’s a self-own on the part of Democrats — and roped in Zohran Mamdani while she was at it.

“Nobody is doing this to them. No one is forcing the Democrats to fight ICE and side with illegal criminals,” she said. “No one is forcing them to side with the criminals in DC. They are doing it to themselves.”

She concluded, with agreement from Arroyo, that despite objections from Democrats, Trump’s actions against crime in D.C. are exactly what residents have been “longing for.”

It’s a point that polling appears to strongly bear out.

ARROYO: Batya, they have to know they’re on the losing side of this issue. The mayor and the chief of police seem warmer to this than they were a few days ago. Could this hurt the Democrats nationally?

UNGAR-SARGON: Thank you so much for having me. I got to tell you, I cannot stop laughing about this. Like why the Democrats would want safe streets to be branded as a right-wing concern is like totally beyond me.

It’s kind of like when, that whole campaign against Sydney Sweeney happened. Do they really want, like, liking hot people to be considered like a right wing thing? It’s so bizarre!

And nobody is doing this to them. No one is forcing the Democrats to fight ICE and side with illegal criminals. No one is forcing them to side with the criminals in DC. They are doing it to themselves. They are lining up to congratulate Mamdani, who wants New York City to look like DC prior to Trump coming in. And it’s just so mystifying. Of course they’re gonna pay a price for this because as Fox News has been on this all week, the residents of DC love this!

ARROYO: They do.

UNGAR-SARGON: They are longing for this. Who doesn’t want their child to have a safe street to walk down?
