Cavuto to Romney: Are You Really, Absolutely, Positively Sure You’re Not Running?

Fox’s Neil Cavuto spoke with Mitt Romney today and double-checked with the former presidential candidate that he is absolutely, positively, 100 percent out of the 2016 race, even baiting him a bit with a couple of hypotheticals.

A little while ago, Romney had said he’s considering a run in 2016, after ruling it out a number of times. After a while Romney made it clear that he definitely isn’t.

But he left the tiniest window possible for maybe possibly coming back to it if the situation calls for it and people want him to and all the rest of it. Cavuto tried to pry open that window just a little bit, but Romney shut it down and said there are plenty of “viable” candidates without him getting in.

Cavuto tried again, bringing up the possibility of a brokered convention and asking him if he would “entertain the party coming to you and saying, ‘Governor, we’re at a draw here.'” Romney again dismissed it, said “I’m not an entertainer,” and doubted there would be a brokered convention in the first place.

Cavuto then asked Romney if he’s REALLY, ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN he’s not running. Romney said, “It’s not gonna happen. There’s no realistic scenario under which that will happen.”
