Chris Matthews Congratulates Rush Limbaugh On Controlling The GOP ‘With His Left Hand’

The Chris Matthews/Rush Limbaugh mostly one-sided feud continued today on Hardball, where Matthews revisited his interview with Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, who refused to contradict Limbaugh’s defense of Rep. Joe Barton. In attacking the Republicans for refusing to denounce him, Matthews put the fight aside for a second to “salute” Limbaugh for his influence in the media world.

The strangest thing about it is that Matthews, despite his long-term campaign against Limbaugh, seems genuinely impressed with his chosen adversary:

“I’ve got to salute Rush, I’ve never seen a guy on the radio– he doesn’t do television, he has one medium of expression– the voice, he doesn’t put on guests, he has a good golf game, I figure, he’s kept up his tan, he’s got a good lifestyle, congratulations on his marriage, he enjoys his life and with, like, his left hand, he runs the entire Republican Party. Congratulations, until somebody dethrones you, Rushbo, congratulations on ruling an entire political party of dittoheads.”

He concluded by once against requesting that any Republicans willing to openly attack Limbaugh give his producers a call.
