As Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace put it this morning, Chris Christie received a bit of “blowback” on Saturday after he proposed his plan to track immigrants with visas like FedEx packages. He even proposed hiring FedEx CEO Fred Smith to implement the system. “People aren’t packages,” the host reminded Christie.

“Well, they’re not, but what my point was that this is once again a situation where the private sector laps us in the government with the use of technology,” Christie said, using the opportunity to double down. He added, “Let’s use the same technology to make sure that 40% of the 11 million who are here illegally don’t overstay their visas.”

Why might that not work? For one, Wallace said the people he’s talking about don’t have “a number on their wrist,” as Christie’s plan would likely require.

“We can do it,” Christie replied, again saying he would bring in people from FedEx to make it happen. “There’s nothing wrong with that, and I don’t mean people are packages, so let’s not be ridiculous.”
