CNN Panel Shuts Down Scott Jennings For Dismissing Reaction to Trump’s Gaza Plan As ‘Dramatic’

CNN host Abby Phillip and her entire panel turned on pundit Scott Jennings after he dismissed concerns over whether President Donald Trump’s plan for the US to take over Gaza broke international law as “dramatic.”

Trump proposed on Tuesday he would transform Gaza into “the riviera of the Middle East,” adding that the idea was pushed by his son-in-law Jared Kushner last year that the area’s “waterfront property could be very valuable.” Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump floated the idea of his administration’s involvement in developing Gaza in the aftermath of a mass displacement of Palestinians.

As Phillip’s panel discussed the legality of the proposal, Palestinian journalist Rula Jebreal declared that international law was “dead” before the host turned to Jennings for his opinion as a pro-Trump conservative.

PHILLIP: Scott, is international law dead? I think Rula is right in suggesting that that’s basically what Trump is suggesting – forcibly removing Palestinians from their land is against international law.

JENNINGS: I think we’re being a little dramatic and we’re on our jump to conclusions matt here, a little bit. He muses occasionally. Take it about his word. He muses occasionally. It’s provocative…

PHILLIP: Look, Scott, just to be clear. You’re suggesting that we are making this up or exaggerating it.

JENNINGS: No, I’m not suggesting anything. Now you’re putting words in my mouth. You and I both know he muses occasionally and he’s aspirational and he says provocative things occasionally.

PHILLIP: Scott, look, I really don’t want to interrupt you, but I just, for my own… You know, I think I have to come to my own defense here in saying Donald Trump, with his own words said this is what he wants to do. He wasn’t musing. He was looking down at a piece of paper. I’ve been in a room with him just like that, with foreign leaders, looking down at a piece of paper. He is reading a statement that was prepared for him. Those are not musings.

At this stage, other panelists began to weigh in, including BASEDPolitics founder Brad Polumbo and writer Josh Rogin.

POLUMBO: Well, Scott, what happened to America First? This is the guy who was supposed to take us out of the endless wars, said he’s against nation building, he railed against…

JENNINGS: Playing the role of Catherine tonight, Brad!

PHILLIP: I do want Scott to finish this.

ROGIN: Are you for the ethnic cleansing or against it?

JENNINGS: Look, I don’t… I don’t know that I agree with the terminology you’re using.
