CNN Star Bashes ‘Bible-Clutching’ Trump Fans Voting for Pal of ‘Worst Sexual Predator’ Epstein
CNN political commentator Ana Navarro tore into “Bible-clutching” MAGA fans who voted for President Donald Trump despite his past association with now-deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
The Trump administration’s attempt to bury the so-called “Epstein Files” is now in its third week, and the heat just keeps going up.
Among the latest developments are a House subcommittee voting to subpoena all documents relating to the case, a bombshell report that Attorney General Pam Bondi told Trump he was in the Epstein Files in May, and a document dump from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard meant to support Trump’s baseless and discredited accusation of “treason” against former President Barack Obama and his top officials.
On Wednesday night’s edition of CNN NewsNight, anchor Abby Phillip and a panel comprised of Navarro, Scott Jennings, Caroline Downey, Keith Boykin, and Jeff Flake. discussed the latest developments.
Navarro objected to the term “associates” because Trump and Epstein are widely reported to have been “close” friends for years, and mocked the self-professed Christians who ignored that friendship:
PHILLIP: Well, no. I mean, I think the point is mostly that obviously everybody knows that Donald Trump is, in some shape or form, represented in these documents, his name is, because, for so long, he was associated with Epstein. So, that’s actually not a secret. That’s not that new.
JENNINGS: It is.
PHILLIP: So why not —
JENNINGS: It’s old news.
PHILLIP: Why act as if this is like, you know, something that he has to protect himself against, as if, you know, it’s the biggest deal in the world.
ANA NAVARRO: I don’t understand why people keep using the term that they were associates. They weren’t associates. They were friends. They were close friends for 15 years. They partied together. They flew in each other’s planes. Epstein was at his wedding, the second one. I mean, they got into a fight. When they got into a fight, it was over a real estate deal in Palm Beach.
Donald Trump has told us that he knew Epstein liked girls on the younger side, and I, quote, so, yes, it’s old news. But, I guess, you know, it’s old news, but it’s hitting you in the face. The fact that all of these bible-clutching, cross-wearing Christians, MAGA, voted for a man who was close friends for over a decade with the worst sexual predator that we have known in recent history in the United States.
CAROLINE DOWNEY: He also severed ties though after news of the sexual impropriety surfaced. So, it wasn’t just nearly —
PHILLIP: No, it was actually before, as far as we know.
DOWNEY: Well, according to Trump, he said that after news of that became apparent, you know?
PHILLIP: According to Trump and what’s true are not necessarily, the same thing.
DOWNEY: Fair.
