CNN’s Smerconish: What If Flake and Corker Ran as Independents Instead?
CNN’s Michael Smerconish posed the question today about Republicans like Jeff Flake and Bob Corker running as independents instead of bowing out of politics entirely.
Flake said this week if he stuck to principles and didn’t stand by President Trump, he wouldn’t have a chance of winning the Republican primary.
Smerconish agreed that “the sway held by media provocateurs” has grown in influence on the right.
But, he wondered, what if people like Corker and Flake, along with some Democrats and independents, “unite and fight as independents”?
