CNN’s Stelter Hits Biden for Misstating Fox News’ Vaccine Policy: He Keeps Getting Key Fact Wrong and ‘Needs to Be Called Out’
CNN’s Brian Stelter chided Joe Biden for incorrectly summarizing Fox News policy when it comes to vaccine mandates.
On Sunday’s Reliable Sources, Stelter held a panel discussion over the Biden administration’s struggles with messaging throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Part of this conversation involved Stelter invoking Biden’s speech last week in Chicago, where the president sardonically commented that “Fox News requires vaccinations for all their employees.”
As a matter of fact, Fox News has adopted a system where non-vaccinated employees must submit to mask-wearing, social distancing, and regular testing in compliance with the company’s safety guidelines. Stelter acknowledged that this system is “a lot more rigorous than what the Biden administration has proposed for companies,” but it’s not a vaccine mandate like the president says it is.
“He keeps repeating a mistake about Fox’s vaccine mandate,” Stelter said. “He keeps getting this fact wrong repeatedly and I think it does need to be called out, that he doesn’t have it quite right about Fox.”
Stelter went on, however, to stress that the president’s incorrect statements pale in comparison with the falsehoods spread by his predecessor, Donald Trump.
“If Trump was committing live felonies, what Biden tends to commit are misdemeanors,” Stelter said.
