Colbert ‘Agrees’ with Megyn Kelly: ‘Black Santa Is a Terrible Idea’

Jon Stewart’s not the only Comedy Central host who got to express his opinion on Megyn Kelly’s Santa Claus “just is white” rant from Wednesday night. Stephen Colbert also addressed the issue on his show last night, but instead of tearing into Kelly for preaching to “racist” children, he offered Kelly his entirely sincere support.
Colbert commended “Fox News elf” Megyn Kelly for putting things in “black and white — but mostly white.” Santa Claus “can’t just change colors,” he said. “It’s not like he’s magic or anything. Besides, a black Santa is a terrible idea. If a homeowner in Florida sees a black man coming down their chimney, he is going to get shot.”
And of course, Colbert took things a few steps further than most by telling any black kids watching at home that their Santa Claus, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “is black and he is real.” Kelly is expected to address the growing controversy on her show Friday night, so make sure to check on Mediaite during the 9pm hour to see what she says.
