Cooper Presses Conway: Why Is Trump Convinced ‘Russia Had Nothing to Do With’ Hacking?
Anderson Cooper pressed Kellyanne Conway tonight on President-elect Donald Trump publicly expressing doubts about reports of a CIA assessment that Russia interfered in the election to help him.
Trump yesterday said it’s “ridiculous” and just another excuse probably perpetrated by the Democrats.
Conway told Cooper tonight that there is an attempt to “undermine” Trump’s decisive election win, but she did make it clear that as president, Trump wouldn’t “interfere with an investigation” pursued by Congress.
Cooper asked, “Why is he so convinced that Russia had nothing to do with it?… Doesn’t Donald Trump want to get to the bottom of cybersecurity in the United States?”
Conway said of course he does, but “this smells like politics” and no one wants politics interfering in American intelligence.
“Russian interference, the alt-right,” she said, “everybody’s fault but Hillary Clinton.”
