Earlier tonight there were reports that Mitt Romney received a call from President-elect Donald Trump telling him he’s out of the running for Secretary of State:
Scoop: Trump called Romney to tell him he's not getting post, I'm told.
Pres-elect expressed nothing but respect for him in recent days.

Well, now Romney has confirmed in a Facebook post tonight that he is out of the running:
It was an honor to have been considered for Secretary of State of our great country. My discussions with President-elect Trump have been both enjoyable and enlightening. I have very high hopes that the new administration will lead the nation to greater strength, prosperity and peace.
Romney sparred with Trump (to put it mildly) during the 2016 campaign, and there has been talk that Trump only considered him in the first place just to mess with him.
Or, as Roger Stone claimed:
“Donald Trump was interviewing Mitt Romney for Secretary of State in order to torture him.”
Trump tweeted earlier tonight he’ll announce his Secretary of State pick tomorrow morning––expected to be Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson.
