Cuomo Swipes at Former CNN Colleague Anderson Cooper for Disparaging Guest: ‘Made Coop Look Like a Fool’
Chris Cuomo dinged former colleague Anderson Cooper on Wednesday night after the CNN host called a guest a “dick.”
Cooper hosted a discussion about Republican megadonor Elon Musk running roughshod over several government agencies as head of the “Department of Government Efficiency.” Musk has fired a slew of government employees and frozen spending at some agencies. The moves have prompted several lawsuits centering on the constitutional limits of executive power.
On Tuesday’s AC360, former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (R) praised Musk hours after Musk and President Donald Trump held a joint press conference in the Oval Office. Cooper accused Sununu of ascribing remarks to Cooper that the host did not say.
“Don’t put words in my mouth,” Cooper said. “Don’t be a dick.”
Cooper apologized at the end of the segment.
“Before we go, I wanna apologize,” the host said. “I was mean, I was rude to you.”
Sununu shrugged it off and noted he was one of seven kids, so the dig didn’t bother him.
On Wednesday’s edition of Cuomo, the host addressed the spat and criticized Cooper.
“My old friends at CNN were using a panel to gang up on former Governor Chris Sununu about a lack of receipts at DOGE,” Cuomo said. “Fair point. There is a lack of receipts, but there were leaning into the lefty argument that all the efforts to find waste are somehow Fugazi.”
Cuomo then played the clip and question and offered his reaction:
“Didn’t bother the Gov,” he said. “Sure, [Sununu] had brothers, but it also made Coop look like a fool, right? Look, I believe Anderson Cooper is the best in the business. And when he surrenders to this ugliness, you know things are out of hand. He knows why said it. He said it because that’s what the left is demanding these days, a muscularity. You got to be mean back to them.”
