Daily Show Brutally Roasts Scott Jennings With Supercut of CNN’s Pro-MAGA Pundit Trashing Trump

The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper busted out old clips of CNN senior commentator Scott Jennings trashing President Donald Trump to roast the pro-MAGA pundit.

“If you’re one of the dozens of people who have tuned into CNN recently, you’ve probably seen a lot of this,” Klepper said on Thursday’s Daily Show, then cutting to various clips of Jennings tussling with CNN panels about the president.

Klepper went through Jennings’s start in the second administration of former President George W. Bush as a White House aide, showing the then 29-year-old refusing to answer many questions from Democratic senators about allegations of firing “disobedient” U.S. attorneys.

“Worst Jeopardy contestant ever. I mean, not the point, but his transformation is full Jonah Hill here. Pretty soon, he’s going to get those arm tats and won’t shut up about his therapist,” Klepper joked, noting Jennings had slimmed up quite a bit since the clip of him in the Senate.

Klepper then reminded everyone of a Jennings who was much more critical of Trump not too long ago.

“That was the last time Jennings would ever decline to share his opinion, because he soon joined CNN, where he made a name for himself as a rare conservative voice who would openly attack Donald Trump,” he said.

The clip montage of Jennings aired included him accusing Trump of violating “his oath of office” and arguing hard against Trump being the Republican Party’s nominee.

“We need a new nominee. If we nominate him again, we will lose,” Jennings said in a clip from 2022.

In another clip, Jennings said Trump sounded “deranged” after the president claimed Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), whom Jennings worked for, had a “death wish.”

“It sounds like an unhinged, deranged person has gotten loose and is out on the street and may be a danger to themselves and others,” Jennings said at the time.

“Exactly. Scott Jennings is a principled man who knows Donald Trump is a danger to the party. He’s not gonna backtrack. You’re certainly not gonna see Donald Trump suddenly praising him for his total compliance, say, I don’t know, two years later,” Klepper said.

He then cut to a clip of Jennings joining Trump at a Michigan rally.

“So how did Jennings metamorphosize from principled caterpillar to craven butterfly?” Klepper said. “Well, after a few years on CNN, Scott Jennings realized that bucking the establishment was hard, and shouting MAGA talking points was easy — and fun.”
