Dramatic Arrest Interrupts Live TV News Report
While reporting on a controversy surrounding the suspension of Queensland police officers, Australia’s Today reporter Aislin Kriukelis became the foreground to a dramatic arrest.
Although the unidentified arrestee was already in custody before appearing on-screen, he began shouting wildly into the camera, forcing the two officers to struggle to restrain him.
“Dramatic scenes right behind you,” Kriukelis’ in-studio anchor Sylvia Jeffreys said. “The police clearly engaged in activity there.”
“They are clearly arresting someone here,” the correspondent replied, “so we will find out what’s happening.”
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the unidentified man was charged with “public nuisance and obstructing police.”
