Elon Musk Tells Fox’s Lara Trump He’s On the Same Page With President Trump ‘80% of the Time’
Elon Musk said he and President Donald Trump are aligned on the issues “about 80% of the time” in a Saturday interview with Fox News host Lara Trump.
While discussing his working relationship with the president and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on My View with Lara Trump, Musk told Trump’s daughter-in-law that he and Trump are close friends.
“I do consider the President a friend. I think he considers me a friend and, you know, we get along very well,” Musk said. “I believe if you ask us both the same set of questions in two different rooms, 80% of the time we come up with the same answer.”
Musk added the two “almost always agree,” specifically regarding government waste and “ensuring the rule of law is followed.”
Since being appointed to lead DOGE in January, Musk has implemented sweeping cuts across federal agencies, leading to mass layoffs and the elimination of several longstanding programs.
The moves have sparked backlash from critics who say the cuts have affected critical services, including public housing operations and government healthcare contractors.
Musk addressed the controversy during his interview and claimed both he and Trump were victims of “propaganda” campaigns.
“It is disappointing how well propaganda works,” Musk said. “If you repeat a lie — you know, the sort of ‘he’s a Nazi’ lie — enough times, some people actually believe it, especially people that still believe the legacy news.”
Musk continued, “They are doing character assassination. It shows that if what we were doing at DOGE was not effective, they wouldn’t care. But it is effective. And that’s why they’re trying every angle to put pressure on me and DOGE to stop fixing the government.”
Lara Trump responded, “Death by a thousand cuts.”
Musk is expected to step away from DOGE later this month.
