Ex-CIA Head Panetta: Trump Needs to Stop Looking for ‘Scapegoats’ Like Obama
Former Obama White House CIA Director Leon Panetta spoke out on CNN tonight about President Trump‘s false claim (later backtracked a bit) about Barack Obama and other past presidents not calling families of fallen soldiers.
Panetta told Anderson Cooper that Obama “wrote letters [and] also made some calls, as I recall,” as well as meeting with the families.
And 10 months into the Trump presidency, Panetta said, “Rather than seeking some kind of scapegoats in the past with President Obama or other Presidents… he now accept responsibility.”
Cooper asked if Trump was really using such a serious moment to criticize Obama and “pat himself on the back.”
Panetta said, “It bothers me that a President of the United States, instead of accepting responsibility for what he does and what his administration does, constantly looks for other scapegoats… He is never responsible for anything that goes wrong.”
