Florida Democrat Painstakingly Dodges CNN’s Boris Sanchez Asking If She Wants President Biden Campaigning With Her
Having a president campaigning by your side would seem to be a huge plus in a congressional race, but Florida Democratic candidate Annette Taddeo doesn’t appear interested in such support from President Joe Biden.
In a Saturday interview with CNN’s Boris Sanchez on her campaign, Taddeo, who is currently a Florida state senator, dodged a direct question about whether she waned Biden campaigning with her.
Sanchez noted that the president’s approval rating has “hovered” around 40 percent in most polls before asking, “Would you like to see him come down to campaign with you?”
Nowhere in Taddeo’s answer was there a yes or no to that question.
“Look, I know that I have my own campaign to win, and we will get lots of help from lots of people, but at the end of the day, I know that the way that I win this race is by us actually telling my story, telling why we need a real representative. We have somebody right now that votes constantly against our community,” she said, then blasting her opponent, Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), accusing the Republican of thinking she’s in a “reality show.”
Biden’s approval ratings have actually seen a boost recently as the president is coming off of some legislative victories, including the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. A Gallup poll released this week saw respondents give him a 44 percent approval rating, with Gallup noting it’s the president’s highest approval in a year.
Taddeo did offer positive words about the president’s plan to forgive some student loans, though her praise was reserved for Democrats as a whole.
“What I will tell you is that we as Democrats are delivering on solutions for people to actually get ahead at a time when they need us to deliver,” she said.
