Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt: ‘Where Were These Raids When Hillary Clinton Was Whitewashing?’
Fox & Friends took on the stunning raid of President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen, and co-host Ainsley Earhardt had a question: what about Hillary?
That query came just seven minutes into Tuesday’s show, after fellow co-host Brian Kilmeade suggested Robert Mueller, who is investigating Trump’s campaign ties to Russia, is “trying to intimidate the president to speak.”
“Is this a message?” Kilmeade added, before arguing that Cohen is “doing what I think is the right thing: cooperating. Where did that get him?”
“A source at the White House told John Roberts that Mueller’s team is just trying to take down the president,” Earhardt said. “A lot of Republicans feel that way, they say it’s a double standard because where were these raids when Hillary Clinton was whitewashing, deleting 30,000 or the FISA abuse?”
Earhardt’s rattling off Clinton scandals was a little confusing so let’s take a look:
It’s unclear what is meant by “whitewashing,” but it could be a reference to the “scrubbing” of Clinton’s deleted emails. “Deleting 30,000” is more obvious, referring of course to the 33,000 emails Clinton deleted amidst the investigation into her private server. She claimed the emails were deleted because they were “personal.”
It’s less clear what Clinton has to do with alleged FISA abuse. Republicans charge that this abuse involves the wiretapping of Trump campaign officials during the 2016 election, when Clinton was a candidate. Perhaps a tipster better versed in Clinton’s high crimes could enlighten me in the comments section.
