Fox News Anchor and House Democrat Spar Over Whether Trump or AOC Is ‘Unhinged’
Fox News’ Sandra Smith and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) sparred over whether President Donald Trump or Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been unhinged in their criticism of each other on America Reports Tuesday.
After Gottheimer praised Trump’s strike on Iranian nuclear facilities last week, Smith pointed out that “you’re not hearing that from all of your Democrat colleagues,” before playing a clip of Ocasio-Cortez saying:
I think that the President of the United States admitting that he unilaterally brought the United States into a war without congressional approval is a very grave public admission. It is illegal. It is unconstitutional.
Then Smith read the following excerpt from a Truth Social post Trump fired off earlier in the day:
Instead of her constant complaining, Alexandria should go back home to Queens, where I was also brought up, and straighten out her filthy, disgusting, crime ridden streets, in the District she ‘represents,’ and which she never goes to anymore
…
She and her Democrat friends have just hit the Lowest Poll Numbers in Congressional History, so go ahead and try Impeaching me, again, MAKE MY DAY!
“Please do weigh in on all of this, sir,” Smith said, prompting the congressman.
“I mean, I’m not going to weigh in on what was clearly an unhinged rant,” answered Gottheimer, before Smith interjected to ask, “On whose part? On whose part?”
“I mean, it’s funny, yeah. Look, and the president obviously, there’s no need for him to say what he just said,” he replied.
“And hers?” pressed Smith, before Gottheimer pivoted to “the substance.”
“I believe clearly that Iran is our enemy, just along with– and works closely with our other adversaries, our top ones, China, Russia, and North Korea. Them having a nuclear weapon is unacceptable,” he argued. ”
“So I believe what the actions were taken, both by our key ally Israel and of course by the United States was critical to stopping a huge enemy of our country,” concluded the congressman.
