Fox News’ Bill Hemmer Launches Bomb at ‘Our Competition’ for Not Covering Trump Speeches: ‘Take News Out of Your Name!’

Fox News’ Bill Hemmer lobbed a bomb at his network’s competition on Outnumbered Tuesday, urging them to “take news out” of their names if they were going to continue to cut away from Trump’s speeches.

After chalking the reaction to Monday’s Supreme Court opinion ruling that states could not ban Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment to “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Hemmer took his shot at Fox’s rivals.

“You know, during our primary coverage tonight, if Joe Biden, as president of the United States decided he want to come out and take a speech, we would take his speech. We would listen to what he has to say,” began Hemmer. “But on primary night after primary night, our competition sometimes refuses to take the winner. South Carolina was a big deal, it was a big vote, it told us a lot about where the Republican Party is going in this candidacy. One of our competitors took four minutes, another took ten. If that’s what you’re going to do, take news out of your name. Because we should all be listening to these ideas and thoughts. And if Biden came out we would take him and be fair to his message.”

Both CNN and MSNBC cut away from and fact-checked Trump’s victory speech in New Hampshire in January. Both networks have made a practice of showing of cutting away from Trump in cases where where he starts to ramble or the anchors want to correct him.

Jake Tapper in particular has gown fond of dumping out of remarks from Trump and his surrogates, even eliciting laughs from his fellow panelists last month after he declared that they had probably “gotten all the legal analysis we’re going to get out of President Trump.”

While Fox does tend to give Trump more runway during his speeches, there are exceptions. Last September it cut away from a rally after Trump touted his recent interview with former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson and last month, Neil Cavuto dumped out of a rally in South Carolina last month to declare that Trump was “not entitled to his own set of facts.”
